Norman:
Thank you for your support. We share the social responsibility. While others are providing foods, blankets, medicines and housing as top priority, our Foundation will help rebuilding the schools and a better future for the kids.
Mr. Lu Ming-guang is on the way to Sichuan to establish the bridge and look for the projects and the location. I will ask the Zhi-Gong Dang to be the "watch dong" for the project selected. We can only help one or two projects with other charities, like UNICEF and other organizations, including the local local government if needed. Through the Foundation, donors are entitled to get tax credit. We will keep track of the projects from the very beginning to the end, and attend the ceremony upon completion of the projects. We will not hand in the funding without knowing the actual projects to be carried out.
The Chinese Freemasons did help in the establishment of a clinic in Sichuan before following the same strategy. It went well. Besides, we do have donations designated for building schools only. This is the right time to carry out such a mission. Through UNICEF or Red Cross, we can apply the funding to recipients outside Canada.
So far we have got four pledged donations since this morning, over $4,000.00, including mine, Lu Ming-guang's and Leo's, $1,000.00 each. We will carry out the fund-raising activities to the end of 2008.
Will you get involved in the Dragon Boat Race this year in Toronto? It is likely we will do a fund-raising by the use of a Dragon Boat, which is called a "wishing boat"". We will discuss this with UNICEF tomorrow afternoon. Just let you know.

Subject: Support for Sichuan earthquake victims
Hi, Alex:
I'd love to help since I'm from Sichuan originally.
How do we make sure the donations serve the purposes of the HFEF and the earthquake victims immediate needs simultaneously?
Please make sure!
I pledge CAD $1,000 towards the rebuilding of school facilities in Sichuan.
Regards,
Norman
Rose:
Great! I thought it was “華聯會" and the message I got is whoever wants to donate should donate to their account. We could issue income tax exemption receipts for 2008. They can donate in the following four categories:
(1) Sichuan Earthquake Relief fund --- Urgent, will be delivered through Red Cross
each Monday.
(2) Myanmar Cyclone Relief Fund -- Urgent, will be delivered through Red Cross
each Monday.
(3) Sichuan Schools Re-building Fund- Will be delivered to actual projects
selected by the Foundation or UNICEF.
(4) Myanmar Schools Re-building Fund -Will be delivered to actual projects
selected by the Foundation or UNICEF.
Remarks:
*1: Detailed records for donation amounts for the first two categories will be
handled by the Red Cross,. The Foundation is to keep a weekly summary of
donations made and a record of each donation.
*2: Detailed records for donation amounts for the first two categories will be
shown in our websites or made available on request by the donors or through
public audit. Psduo names will be used but will be related back to the names of
the donors in actual record.
I will discuss this with UNICEF this afternoon. Rose, could you get a few people or organizations to attend the Press Conference on Friday? And inform the media other than the four
big newspapers?
Last time, the World and Singtao did not send any reporters to our Conference, nor any news releases published in their newspapers.
We also need to redesign the donation forms, unless CCFA can help. Anyhow, it will be ready by Friday.
Alex
